Frequently Asked Questions
What Makes Your Paintings Different?
Great question! With so many talented artists out there, it’s a big decision to decide what you want to hang on your walls. The number one thing to consider when you become a collector:
I will always strive to use sustainable and low-waste art practices. This is the most eco-friendly art I can create. The majority of paints I use are from a company called Natural Earth Paint, and all of these oil paints are hand-mixed each time I paint and they are made with earth pigment and oil. That’s it! There are no additives, no fillers, no toxic materials. The solvent I use is eco-friendly and health-friendly. It is safer and smells significantly better than turpentine, so I can paint in my home and around my family and unlike acrylic paint that is made from plastic, I don’t have to worry about what’s getting washed into our waterways.
How can I buy a painting?
I am currently working to create collections on a regular basis. This means that a group of paintings will be created, photographed and listed for sale all at the same time. This will be well advertised before hand via social media and on my mailing list. Originals, prints and all offerings will be available under the Shop tab above.
Do you offer commissions?
I am just beginning the commission process! I am working to create a client commission form to help streamline the process, but for now, please email me at sustainablepainter@gmail.com if you have any questions about commissions at this time.
Will the paintings that have real pressed flowers change color over time?
While the oil paint I mix is archival and should not fade or crack with time, real pressed flowers are unique and organic materials, so when oxidized, the pigmentation will lesson. So yes, there will be some color changing or fading. The amount of color fading does vary depending on the type of flower, amongst other factors. I believe there is beauty in that process however, knowing your piece will continue to change as the years go on. Just like we do.
Do you offer frames with your paintings?
For art on oil paper, they will all come framed and ready to hang. The frames are FSC certified, which means they come from responsibly managed forests that meet strict environmental, social, and economic standards. The FSC label assures consumers that the product's materials are sourced from forests that are managed in a way that protects biodiversity, benefits local communities, and ensures the long-term health of the forest ecosystem.
Who owns the painting?
You own the physical painting, but I retain all rights to all artwork I create, even after it has sold. I retain the right to make reproductions of any and all artwork I create.
The buyer may not reproduce the artwork in any way without written permission. If the artwork is used in social media, marketing or is reproduced in a magazine or other media I only ask for credit.
When you purchase an original painting, you, the collector, have the right to display the artwork in your home or business but the artwork may not be resold or reproduced without my written permission.
